For the release of Diablo III on Nintendo Switch, our “Diablo Quest For Treasure” activation mapped out an exciting treasure hunt in and out of the at PAX West convention center.
The quest kicked off true to Diablo III—by grabbing an official quest map from everyone’s favorite NPC, Deckard Cain. Once their quest started, fans had three other objectives to complete each day, from visiting a retail partner to seeking out the Treasure Goblin, who dropped clues to his whereabouts on Twitter all day.
Each time the Treasure Goblin tweeted a new clue, fans raced to track him down, mobbing him within minutes to earn quest stickers, claim official Diablo III Pinnys (now selling for upwards of $50 on eBay), statuettes, posters, and other limited-edition swag. Local partners like GameStop, Golden Age Collectibles, and BAIT all participated by promoting the treasure hunt on their social accounts and handing out prizes.
Thousands of fans checked in each day at The Lodge Bar & Grill to indulge in a custom, Diablo-inspired menu at our replica of the iconic Slaughtered Calf Inn. Fans from around the country met up to watch videos, eat, drink, and talk all things Diablo.
